Hopi Pottery Sikyatki Style LRG 6" x 13" Seed Pot Solstice by Lawrence Namoki

This is an absolutely magnificent, museum quality hand built large seed pot named Hopi Solstice by famous Hopi artisan Lawrence Namoki. Lawrence is world renown for his exquisite kachinas as well as his pottery creations.

This spectacular seed pot is both symbolic and a labor of love. This was created the old Hopi way in the Sikyatki style and hand painted with all natural materials. The scenes depict the Hopi beliefs and culture. It is divided into four sections with each section representing the four seasons. The sections were sub-divided further into day and night. All the symbols represent ancient Hopi legends. Lawrence is a deeply spiritual man and every line and symbol has a meaning in the Hopi culture. He also names all original work of art and this one is called "Hopi Solstice". It has the form of a seed pot but with a ladder that reminds of Kiva structures and the Ceremonies of the Hopi.

This wonderful seed pot is large and measures approx 6" tall x 13" diameter. Hallmarked. Comes with a written story by Lawrence Namoki behind the meanings of the symbols.

Sensational, museum quality, highly collectible piece of Hopi art by Hopi master Lawrence Namoki to add to your collection!
